Well, we did it!
The Solgen Energy’s team woke up nice and early on the 20th of September, jumped on our running gear, and for the first time in the history of this designer and distributor of solar power systems, we proudly crossed the finishing line of the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival with the backdrop of the stunning Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
That’s the good news.
The even better news is that overall, participants raised over one million dollars to contribute to very worthy causes.
It didn’t take much for the Solgen Energy’s team to decide on the cause we wanted to support. Everyone here is in awe of the work carried out by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), particularly the efforts invested in reversing the decline in tigers’ population throughout the world.
And while we felt that all the other causes deserved our support as much as the WWF, we knew that when it came to tigers, there’s really no time to waste.
You see, the numbers are truly frightening.
The WWF explains that the wild tiger population has dropped 97% over the last hundred years.
There are currently only around 3,200 wild tigers left in the entire planet.
The WWF is working with 13 different countries to double wild tiger numbers by 2022, the next year of the tiger in the Chinese horoscope.
So, Solgen Energy pledged to contribute a dollar for every single dollar raised by our team to donate to the WWF’s Tigers Alive Initiative.
And today, we are very proud to announce that we went well over our target, reaching the total amount of $5,341.
We’d like to thank the fantastic Solgen Energy team for giving up their very well deserved Sunday rest and exchanging it for a good dose of fun and exercise, and above all for their efforts to help us do our bit for the environment and the magnificent creatures that share it.
And we’d also like to take the opportunity to encourage you to find out more about the Tigers Alive Initiative.
