In March 2011 Solgen Energy provided Shoalhaven City Council with a proposal to supply, design, install and connect a photovoltaic system at the Bay and Basin Leisure Centre.

The Bay and Basin Leisure Centre is an outdoor aquatic centre situated at Vincentia in Jervis Bay. It is a short drive from St Georges Basin, Sanctuary Point, Erowal Bay and other townships in the Jervis Bay and Basin area.
The Leisure Centre has a 25 metre indoor pool, a leisure pool, toddler’s pool, spa and a 40 metre water slide. There is also a fully equipped gymnasium, fitness classes, sports shop, crèche and cafe.
In opting for a solar photovoltaic system at the Leisure Centre, Shoalhaven City Council sought the design and installation of a photovoltaic system that utilised available space at the premises and maximized energy yields, improved the sustainability performance of the centre and reduced greenhouse gas emissions as well as demonstrating the Council’s commitment to sustainability through works that would engage staff and the wider community
The Leisure Centre has a roof of over 1000sqm that was suitable for the installation of a solar system. In order to maximize the usable roof space and power output the modules were fitted raked at approximately 25 degrees north on the south facing roof. The 14.10kW system comprised 60 Schott solar Poly 235 watt panels which covered an area of 102 square meters, in conjunction with an SMA STP15000TL inverter.
Solgen Energy took responsibility for the entire process in delivering and installing the solar power system for the Leisure Centre, covering system design, relevant permits, procurement, site safety analysis, installation and commissioning, training and ongoing support.
An SMA Sunny Webbox monitoring system and Weather Station was included with the installation for the visualisation of real-time generation data and the monitoring of environmental conditions relevant to the performance of the PV system.
The system is expected to generate approximately 24 Megawatt hours of electricity per annum, reducing the Centre’s reliance on grid electricity and lowering its operational costs.
