The 100kW solar power installation at Bridgestone Forrestfield will assist the company in contributing towards a greener future for generations to come.
Solgen had to adhere to stringent structural guidelines when planning the installation of the solar power system due to the age of the Bridgestone Forrestfield factory. This limited the available roof space for solar panels. Western Australia also has a zero-export utility regulation allowing no energy to be fed back into the grid.
Taking into consideration these constraints, Solgen Energy Group developed a tailored 100kW solar power solution for Bridgestone Forrestfield.

The tailored solution was flush mounted in order to maximise available solar capacity on the roof and associated electricity output. A 9m clearance safeguard was implemented to separate the solar panels from the roof edge to ensure the system could withstand the expected wind load for the region and structurally comply with all relevant standards.
The design also avoided placing solar panels close to the various roof obstacles, such as the skylights and utilities, to eliminate any possible shading.
All design and installation decisions made by Solgen were unique to the factory and were implemented to exceed the value of the solar power system. The estimated output for the Bridgestone Forrestfield project is 170 MWh in the first year with an annual performance degradation below 0.7 per cent.
The installation of a 110kW photovoltaic system will:
