The Solgen Energy group was selected to deliver the 30.24kW Solar Power Project at North Sydney Stanton Library operated by North Sydney Council. Solar Panels were installed on the roof of the library building and were secured through Solar Panel Mounting Rails and Solar Panel Roof Mounting Brackets to the main roof structure.

North Sydney Council has aspirational environmental strategy to reduce its carbon emissions through a range of green initiatives. Solgen Energy partnered with North Sydney Council to develop and install a tailored solution to optimise the power output and significantly reduce their carbon footprint.

Solar power project details

Client:North Sydney Council
Location:Stanton Library, North Sydney
Date completed:June 2013
Solar system peak capacity:30.24kW
Panel:126 x Schott Poly 240W
Inverter:SMA Tripower Inverters
Green savings:32.16 tonnes of emissions per annum
Solar electricity generated:36.13MWh per annum

This Government Solar Power Project presented a number of unique challenges, for which Solgen Energy was able to develop an innovative design and construction methodology. Some of the key challenges have been:

  • Installation on top of a 3 storey public building that required safety at heights precautions while maintaining safe public access to the building
  • Logistics management of materials to the roof outside of public use hours
  • Limited roof area available for the installation of the solar panel array requiring installation on multiple roof sections on colorbond roofing
  • Installation to comply with the aesthetic architectural requirements

The Solgen Energy Engineers are Clean Energy Council (CEC) Accredited and ensure that the design is optimised to ensure that the solar power system produces the maximum amount of power from the sun.

The Solgen Project Management team, lead by the operations manager, worked closely with our clients to ensure that the project met their needs and was successfully delivered on schedule. Solgen Energy also managed all the required approvals required by Distribution Network Service Provider (DNSP).

The components chosen for this Government Solar System Project were key to its successful implementation. High efficiency products from leading manufacturers were selected to provide the hardware solution. The components used include:

  • Compact 240W polycrystalline photovoltaic modules made by Schott in Germany
  • Industrial rated tripower inverters made in Germany by SMA
  • Flush mounting frames for the Multiple solar panel arrays

The installation of the solar system at the library building is one example of North Sydney Council’s commitment to protect the environment.
Major benefits of the Government Solar Installation at Stanton Library include:

  • This Solar Panel System reduces over 32.16 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per annum.
  • It generates 36.13MWh/yr of renewable electricity per year reducing the need for coal generated electricity
  • The installation of solar demonstrates positive action on climate change to the community
